Hardly a day goes by without a story in the media about Mariah Carey. Many of these stories are about the singer’s sometimes bizarre demands, which some people see as attempts by a fading star to stay in the public eye. Someone around her apparently has a full time job contacting media outlets.

Alison Carey, 59, Mariah’s older sister, seen here wearing a recently acquired sleeveless top from a Salvation Army donation store. The price on the tag: $2. Penniless, Alison is recovering from a brutal attack in her home in 2015 that has left her with permanent brain damage.

Shawn McDonald, 44, Alison’s eldest son, a 2002 graduate of Harvard Law School. Saying that Alison has been his mother ‘in name only”, Shawn, even after the attack, has refused to do anything to help her.

 

Morgan Carey, 60, brother of  Alison and Mariah, until recently a resident of Italy, now living in Hawaii. In 2016 Morgan was quoted in a British newspaper trashing his famous sister, calling her “an evil witch.” He said it was part of a plan to help Alison. It didn't work. 

Patricia Carey, 84, mother of Morgan, Alison and Mariah, a former opera singer now living in Florida. Pat Carey has not had any contact with her eldest daughter for at least 8 years, not even coming to the hospital when Alison was on life support and near death.
